The Story of Doughlizious
Hi there! My name is Liz Phung and my microbakery is based in Richmond Hill, Ontario.
Although my family was involved in the restaurant and bakery business while I was growing up, I never imagined I would follow in their footsteps. You could say baking is in my blood, but it took me a while to realize it!
I started baking in memory of my dear friend Jonathan Kwon, who passed away suddenly in December 2023. I discovered that baking provided both a calming and exciting outlet—a form of therapy where I could channel my time and energy. I found myself making at least one loaf of artisanal bread each day—let’s just say, my home always smelled great!
Inspired by this newfound passion, I launched Doughlizious with the goal of sponsoring a golf hole at the Inaugural Drive for Dreams Golf Tournament for The Jonathan Kwon Foundation. I also set up a bread-tasting station for all the golfers on the day of the tournament. The support and response were both overwhelming and deeply meaningful. It gave me a chance to connect with friends and new people who cherished Jonathan, turning my baking into a form of solace and comfort for me.
Thank you again to everyone who has supported me so far, and a warm welcome to those who are new to this journey. I’m excited to see where Doughlizious goes and ready to embrace any challenges ahead.
In honour of Jonathan, 20% of all proceeds will be donated to The Jonathan Kwon Foundation. Click here to learn more or contribute directly to the foundation.
